Extra-curricular activities

Greenhouse Montessori offers a wide variety of extra-curricular activities including:

Tae Kwon Do

Students discipline themselves to follow directions, practice good manners and courtesies, develop physical coordination, and take pride in their accomplishments.

Voice Lessons

A fun lesson for all. It will also give them an opportunity to exercise their voice and learn some music theory principles.

Piano, Guitar, Ukulele, Drum

Private lessons are designed to build and enhance student’s sight-reading skills, coordination, and expression. Students develop competencies that will last a lifetime.

Computer Science (STEM)

Teaching Kids Computer Science should be part of they learning. We spend so much time thinking and worrying about our children’s screen time that we forget that there are productive and beneficial ways to utilize technology within our children’s learning environment, as a part of the environment, not replacing any other vital part of the learning (e.g. we’re not trading hands on science learning for an iPad app about nature).

Badminton

Beginning a training program early in life allows young athletes to establish basic fundamental movements before bad habits are established. Greenhouse Montessori provides a fun, fast paced, environment that allows young athletes to raise their level of physical conditioning. Enjoying exercise at a young age helps young athletes to understand the importance of hard work, commitment and success while also creating habits that can continue through an athletic career and later in life.

Basketball

Not only gets the training they need to become athletes, but also the necessary values they need to succeed in life, such as determination, discipline, commitment and teamwork. Aside from the physical benefits, it also trains children to reach their full potential, not just physically, but socially, mentally and emotionally as well. It encourages them to form new friendships, discover their strengths and overcome different challenges.

Chess

Chess is one of the oldest games in the world dating back over 1500 years. Of course everyone likes to win, but it is just important to learn how to accept losing. As the saying goes—sometimes you give the lesson, and sometimes you receive the lesson! Most important, try to learn from those losses and come back a better player.  Chess teaches children from an early age that their choices have consequences both good and bad. Thinking your moves through and trying to play the best move that you can is rewarding, while playing too quickly, and rushing your decisions can have negative repercussions.
